We'll focus on songs of social transformation and liberation in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. This immersion will take place on UVA campus and will include time singing in our beloved resonant Rotunda breezeway, where Songtuary convened often in our first gatherings during the 2020 pandemic.

About the event
Our first singing immersion in 2024 will convene Saturday, January 13, the weekend of Martin Luther King's birthday holiday. We'll take a deep dive into both traditional and contemporary civil rights and social change songs. These songs offer nourishment/encouragement in the journey to realize the Beloved Community that Dr. King eloquently evoked and stood for.
A provisional schedule is below: 9:30 - 10 AM Arrive (TBD) 10 to noon Community Singing and song co-creation Noon - 1:30 Potluck lunch and a 30-minute hike. 1:30 to 3:00 Song Leadership Round Robin in Rotunda breezeway (Bring a song or chant to share!) 3:00 to 3:45 Visioning Songtuary's outreach for 2024 3:45- 4:00 Closing circle
We offer Songtuary Immersions on a "gift economy" basis. There is no fee for participating. Your contributions, both financial and spiritual, help us to propagate our Songtuary culture with widening circles of kindred spirits.
